Please stand with me at I STAND WITH HENRY on FB. I need your help to make a difference.
Today I read about Martin Luther King.
The worksheet said because of Dr King’s work, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave equal rights to all people.
I am a person.
I want these rights.
I want to go to school in my neighborhood.
Why can’t I?
Bravo Henry!
I hope that one day soon you can, Henry. You are absolutely right. You are a person too.
You can’t because they system discriminates, even when it’s not supposed to. Which isn’t allowed. I’m sorry that you have to go through this, and I hope you know I stand with you. I’ll probably be talking about this over on my blog because seriously this needs to be an outrage so that policies change. Mind if I link back to this when I do?
Awesome Henry. I can’t wait to show my son. Thanks so much for sharing.
Way to go, Henry! I stand with you!
Hello from San Mateo County, California, Henry! Yes, you should be able to go to school in your neighborhood.
Also, thanks for taking the time to demonstrate what AAC devices can do. And I really liked the soundtrack!
Henry You have a great smile and I’m so glad that I found your blog! WTG and keep it up!!
PS You are a great person, just like MLK, Jr.
Thank you for sharing your message, Henry. It’s important for us to stand up for our rights.
You are an inspiration! I stand with you, Henry!
If you want it, work and fight for it! You’re off to a great start by sharing your message.
You are so right. Let your voice be heard. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Way to go Henry! Keep standing up for yourself!
You are an inspiration. I hope you keep fighting for your rights. Know that there are people cheering for you.
Henry, I hope that soon you can got to school near your home.
Henry, thanks for being so brave and strong and sharing your thoughts/opinions with us! I’m SO, so proud of you!! *fist bump**
You are very right. I hope that the people who can change this hear you.
Henry, I stand with you! I think you should be able to go to school in your neighborhood. Maybe you should send some messages to people on the school board, or maybe some local politicians, and ask THEM your question.
I hope you will keep blogging and sharing your thoughts and ideas. I am interested in what you have to say.
You are absolutely right Henry. You have rights. Don’t stop fighting.
I don’t know why you can’t. From what you write, however, I would think the school would want you. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts, desires, needs, and expectations for all the rights you deserve. You are giving a voice to many others who are less able to speak for themselves.
I stand with you, Henry!! You’re awesome!
I stand with you, Henry! Keep on advocating for your rights. You’re not alone.
Thank you so much for not being afraid to share your thoughts and feelings. It is only right that people with different abilities be treated as everyone else and have the right to the same education. I am so proud that you are willing to take up such an important cause and I will do everything in my power to make sure you get those right along with other young ladies and gentlemen as yourself. You are an incredible young man. Never give up the fight. I believe you have unlimited potential and have the ability to live a happy, health, and meaningful life. Never give up and always try to keep your cause out there so people don’t forget. I am sure your parents are just beaming with pride in having such an incredible son! I wish you the best life has to offer and then some! YOU ROCK HENRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Henry, You are an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I with you on fight. Be strong and fight on.
Fantastic work Henry, I hope you get your right to go to your neighborhood school. Best wishes from Australia!
I want you to have your rights Henry. You deserve them. Here are more good wishes from Australia.
I stand with Henry! You keep fighting for your rights! I fight for the rights of people with disabilities too. We will fight together! :)
Henry, you rock! Keep up the good fight!
I love what you said about wanting your rights. I am inspired about your typing. I hope my son can type like you one day.
Beautiful!
I am the mother of a five year old non-verbal boy with autism. I agree that you should be able to go to school in your neighborhood. My son had to ride on a bus an hour away from home for two years because that was the BEST program we could find for him. He just started kindergarten at the local school this September and now has a very short bus ride. He seems very happy at his new school, but we don’t really know because unlike you he doesn’t know how to type yet. I wish you lots of luck to be heard, everyones voice matters!
Henry,
You are a BEAUTIFUL person. I stand with you.
You likely can’t go to school in your neighbourhood because the adults have not been able to convince those with money to provide the accommodations you require. However, you have convinced me.
You may not be able to go to school in your neighbourhood because the adults think you will slow down your classmates. Your potential classmates could tell their parents that you don’t slow down their learning and that in fact you enhance their learning and are a valuable, contributing member of their class.
I sure hope for your potential classmates (not to mention for you and your family) that you can convince the adults that it is your right to go to school in your neighbourhood. It is also your future classmates’ right to learn in a “normal” group – a group of children representing the wide range of children that are born and live in our communities (even when they’re not allowed to go to their neighbourhood schools).
Thank you for taking the time to share your message. I wish you all the best!!
We stand with you Henry. We applaud you for speaking out. There’s no reason you should not be able to go to the school you wish to go to. Don’t give up.
I stand with Henry
Keep the faith!
Henry, you are an awesome kid!! The world is a much better place because you are in it. Keep up the good work!! I am proud to say, “I stand with Henry!!”
Go Henry! !!!!!!!
I stand with Henry! I think you’re fantastic mate, and you should definitely be able to attend a local school. Good luck!
My daughter has HFA and we stand with you, Henry. Your question is a very important one and it deserves an answer. I hope you don’t mind that I emailed President Obama with a link to your video today. I know he is a very busy man, but he is a good man and he cares about questions just like yours. Maybe one day Mr Obama might find a moment to reply. I hope so! Love from London, UK <3
I LOVED your video!!!! Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to all!!
Henry said,, thank you!
Thank you for asking, Henry. Keep on asking. Don’t stop asking. You, like Dr. King, are helping to break down the barriers. It will happen. It won’t happen quickly. But it will happen, if you remember what Winston Churchill said, “Never, never give up.”
Thank you. Henry said he will, “Never, never give up” and try to help all students have the rights they deserve.
Stay strong Henry! Don’t ever give up! My son, Austin, and I have Asperger Syndrome and I have APD. These “different abilities” cause hardship in our lives. But, we keep fighting! Everyone has the right to go to school. We are standing up for your rights with you!
Hugs,
Erica and Austin
Our class is studying the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. King. Your essay is great. Thanks, Henry!
