We are eagerly awaiting National Geographic’s TV program Taboo, on Larry Bissonnette. Larry is a very talented painter and brilliant, autistic self advocate from Vermont. Larry types to communicate and is an enormous role model for Henry, for all of us. We were lucky enough to spend time with Larry, Tracy Thresher, Pascal Cheng, and Harvey Lavoy when they came to Tampa last June for a screening and Q & A, and our lives haven’t been the same since.
If you haven’t seen Wretches & Jabberers, rent it, buy it, watch it (it’s on itunes, VOD, Netflix). If you are the parent of a child who is diagnosed with autism, has different abilities, is an artist, like good music, and great films..check out Wretches & Jabberers. This film challenges society’s perceptions of different abilities and intelligence.
You’ll also want to check out their “Stories From the Road”, which follows the guys as they tour the country spreading the word about acceptance, inclusion, and presumption of competence.
It’s time. Change is gonna come. Let’s make it happen.
Looking forward to seeing this!
I will
